Spring, 2008: Computational Nanoscience
I will be teaching this class again in the Spring, this time with Dr. Elif Ertekin as my co-instructor. We will follow much of the same spirit as the course during its first incarnation, although some of the emphasis will be shifted and the tools available for class homework and projects will be enhanced. The course will once again focus on providing graduate students with a broad set of computational science tools for carrying out nanoscience research. The class will be highly interactive and great emphasis will be placed on actually carrying out a wide range of simulations. For more information about this class, please see the course web site.
Fall, 2007: The Business of Nanotechnology
During the Fall 2007 semester, I am co-teaching this course in the Management of Technology (MOT) program at the Haas School of Business. The course focuses on skills needed for the identification of opportunities that can lead to successful entrepreneurial ventures in nanotechnolgy. The course provides a comprehensive overview of the core elements in this emerging field, specifically the scientific and technical basis of nanotechnology, the emerging business opportunities, and the policy issues that represent both threats and opportunities to nanotechnology investors, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
Spring, 2006: Computational Nanoscience
During the Spring 2006 semester, I developed and taught a new course on computational nanoscience. This course was designed to provide students with the fundamentals of computational problem-solving techniques that are used to understand and predict properties of nanoscale systems. Emphasis was placed on how to use simulations effectively, intelligently, and cohesively to predict properties that occur at the nanoscale for real systems. A broad overview of computational nanoscience was presented and the course was therefore suitable for both experimental and theoretical researchers.
